Blue Agave is looking for an energetic, self-motivated software engineer to participate as a key contributor in the development of our real-time retail execution solutions, focusing on database development and interaction.

Required Education and Experience:

The ideal candidate will have a BS in Computer Science or other engineering discipline and a minimum of 5 years of experience designing and deploying server-side J2EE applications, with a focus on the DBMS layer.

Interested candidates should possess:

• Expert programming knowledge in SQL and PL/SQL.

• Proficiency with all aspects of DBMS performance and tuning on Oracle 9i (system parameters, schema design, index definition and optimization, query plan analysis, statistics, Oracle CBO).

• Comfort performing the previous tasks on various Windows platforms (W2K Server, XP Pro) and various flavors of Unix, particularly Linux.

• Experience with installing, configuring, and deploying WebLogic applications (minimum WebLogic 7.0).

• Strong knowledge of Ant and shell scripting, particularly for enterprise tasks including environment configuration and application installation.  

• Programming experience with Java.

• Experience with any of the following J2EE technologies is a plus: EJB, JDBC, and JMS.

The preferred candidate will excel in both team environments, as well as in working individually. Strong written and verbal communication skills are a must.
